Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is an unobtrusive form of brain stimulation. TMS devices operate outside of a patient's body, and affect central nervous system activity by applying powerful magnetic fields to specific areas of the brain, which are known to be active in depression.
TMS Therapy can be conducted in a psychiatrist's office under their supervision, using a medical device called the Neurostar TMS Therapy.
Neurostar Therapy requires no anesthesia or sedation. Each treatment is between 19 and 37 minutes, Therapy is required five days a week for four to six weeks.
